What are the local arrangements in Shropshire?

Effective from 15 September 2025: West Mercia Police deliver Operation Encompass across Shropshire. Notifications are no longer being sent via the Local Authority and now come directly from West Mercia Police.

What This Means for Schools and Early Years settings:

• Ensure you have an Operation Encompass 'Key Adult' at your setting/school (usually the DSL/DDSL) who has completed Online National Key Adult Training : Operation Encompass training.
• Operation Encompass 'Key Adult' contact information originally held by the Local Authority has been shared with the police. 
•  Share/update (if this has changed) 'Key Adult' information (name and email address) with VulnerabilityHub@westmercia.police.uk. 
• Address any queries or questions about notifications with the officer who sends it to you.
• Use and follow
  • the Resources for educational settings : Operation Encompass (there is no longer a local protocol/templates). These include: Handbooks outlining School/settings responsibilities & resources (including Setting/School to parent letters and awareness posters).

  • Shropshire Safeguarding Community Partnership: Domestic Abuse contact numbers, resources and links to other organisations
