Suspension/Permanent Exclusion

Suspensions from school can be for a fixed term (lunchtime, a half-day, day or number of days) or a permanent exclusion. Only the head (or acting head) has the right to suspend/exclude a child from school and the parent/carer should be notified immediately. A suspension/permanent exclusion letter should be sent to the parent/carer within one school day of the decision to suspend/exclude.

You can find out more about the suspension/permanent exclusion process on the GOV.uk website.

If you want to talk to someone about your concerns please contact Inclusion Services on 01743 254397 or email eas@shropshire.gov.uk

If the child has been suspended on more than one occasion, the school can consult with Outshine who will be able to offer a range of outreach intervention, guidance and/or pupil support meetings.

If a child is being considered for permanent exclusion the school must consult with Outshine prior.

Please notify ALL suspensions/permanent exclusions via the online portal.
