Introducing Alun Morgan – History CPD Secondary Associate
Alun Morgan worked for Shropshire Council as a School Improvement Adviser for over 25 years. During this time, he worked on developing a wide range of curriculum materials to support secondary history including schemes of work to support the introduction of various national curriculums, teaching and learning activities and additional support materials and ideas for the Learning Gateway. He has been a senior moderator for A Level history for over 20 years.
Recent work has included the development of teaching materials to commemorate the centenary of the First World War which have included planning resources, artefacts boxes in conjunction with the School Library Service and Shropshire Archives, and supporting the development of the replica trench system near Oswestry. Alun has led sessions at regional, national and international conferences on the teaching and learning of history.
He also works for the Historical Association and was recently part of a small team which developed the History Quality Mark to recognise high quality history teaching in schools, and works as a member of the small national team of assessors for the award
