Introducing Alun Morgan – History CPD Primary Associate
Alun Morgan worked for Shropshire Council as a School Improvement Adviser for over 25 years. During this time, he worked on developing a wide range of curriculum materials to support primary history including schemes of work to support the introduction of various national curriculums, teaching and learning activities and additional support materials and ideas for the Learning Gateway.
Recent work has included the development of teaching materials to commemorate the centenary of the First World War which have included planning resources, artefacts boxes in conjunction with the School Library Service and Shropshire Archives, and supporting the development of the replica trench system near Oswestry. Other work has involved working with local schools to develop teaching materials for Shang China – the outcomes of which were included as an article in Primary History. Alun has led sessions at regional, national and international conferences on the teaching and learning of history.
He also works for the Historical Association and was recently part of a small team which developed the History Quality Mark to recognise high quality history teaching in schools, and works as a member of the small national team of assessors for the award.
