Change Programme Information Sessions

The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Alternative Provision (AP) Change Programme is a national programme designed to test a number of policy changes to systems and processes for children and young people with SEND, and those accessing alternative provision in the UK.

It's being delivered by change programme partnerships in each of the nine regions of England. Each partnership consist of selected local authorities and integrated care systems working alongside families, led by at least one named local authority.

For our region, the West Midlands Change Programme Partnership consists of Shropshire Council, Telford and Wrekin Council, NHS Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System (ICS), Herefordshire and Worcestershire Councils and Hereford and Worcestershire ICS, with Telford and Wrekin Council being the named lead local authority.

Assistive Technology Lending Library (ATLL) roadshow and launch

The lending libraries will be stocked with a range of tools, including reading pens to scan text and read it aloud, dictation tools which convert spoken word into text, and tablets which leverage images to help non-verbal pupils communicate.

This will help schools support a wide range of needs, including dyslexia, autism and ADHD, as well as increasing independence and belonging and helping achieve the government’s mission of excellence everywhere for every child.

The lending libraries model adopts a ‘try before you buy’ approach. This gives schools the opportunity to measure the impact of different devices before making an upfront investment – building confidence in what works and reducing the risk of wasted expenditure.

To launch the ATLL we are holding a series of roadshows in conjunction with our regular SEND and Inclusion Network meetings. You will be able to see some of the assistive technology available for loan, find out how to request devices and have an opportunity to meet some of our partners from Amazing ICT, Scanning Pens, Widget, Crick Software (Clicker) and AssistiveWare (Proloquo).

We look forward to seeing you there.
